hemmed in

presbyterians, hookah bars, and a woman named esme

Today, as I do, I attempted to book screenings for LiNK. I’m at the point where I just have to make cold calls, calling churches, community centers, high schools, colleges, who and whatever. Because of this, I end up talking to a lot of disinterested people, sometimes though, you find that little gem. Today I had several. The gems are as follows:

1. All the Presbyterian churches of Portland. I have never been so proud to include myself in your denomination. “I will pass this on to the outreach/action/social justice committee” is music to my ears.

2. I talked to a lady named Esme who’s been to North Korea. Her husband co-founded Mercy Corps, and after the famine, they were one of the few organizations allowed in. They planted apple orchards, and worked in fisheries. I am so so so excited to meet her, and learn from someone who has lived so well.

3. I got a message from a Jona from Portland. She was interested in hosting a screening, so I gave her a call. The Pacific Northwest Nomad team may be hosting a LiNK screening in a hookah bar in Portland Thanksgiving week. Obviously, I will blog about this later.

It’s been a good day. Goodnight!
